A safe & healthy airport is a team effort
As part of the SJU Airport's efforts to ensure the safety and health of our airport community, our strict protocols were reinforced. We encourage each area to follow the guidelines and recommendations detailed below.
Airlines
We recommend complying with these standards for a safe and healthy operation
Airlines are an essential part of the SJU Airport community and therefore we are committed to enforcing these recommendations.
Action Plan
We suggest implementing an action plan that includes, among others, passenger management, equipment disinfection, and notification of said plan to airline service providers, both in and out of the operational area.
Cleanliness
It is recommended to disinfect high contact surfaces at least every 60 minutes. Likewise, operational tools and vehicles should be cleaned before and after each use. Also, constant hand washing is recommended.
Safety
We urge you to follow the distancing protocol, which requires keeping a distance of not less than six feet between people. In addition, all personnel must use a face cloth or mask to cover their nose and mouth.
Service Providers
This includes the teams that serve airlines and general aviation operations.
In addition to following the general rules that are established for all areas, they must attend to those that apply only to their respective tasks.
Fixed-Base Operators
We suggest implementing an action plan that includes, among others, passenger management and equipment disinfection, as well as practices to take the temperature of passengers during arrivals and departures. It is recommended to disinfect high contact surfaces, at least every 60 minutes. Likewise, operational tools and vehicles should be cleaned before and after each use. All personnel should use a face cloth or mask to cover their nose and mouth. The installation of signs informing of the mandatory use of masks and the established social distancing practices is recommended.
Airline Service Providers
The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory during the cleaning of aircraft interiors, including but not limited to face protection, gloves, gowns, and aprons. In addition, ensure the disinfection of wheelchairs and passenger or cargo transport vehicles before and after each use. The use of disposable gloves is recommended when loading, unloading, sorting, distributing, organizing, delivering and disposing of cargo and materials related to cargo operations, as well as while carrying out maintenance or fueling work. All personnel should use a face cloth or mask to cover their nose and mouth.
Additional Safety Practices
All service providers are encouraged to place Plexiglass gates at each customer service station. Also, take your employees' temperature and promote the recommended distance between people with signs on the floor. In addition, promote constant hand washing by all staff.
Stores & Concessions
As part of the economic environment of the airport, we look forward to your cooperation
The stores and dealers located at SJU Airport are essential for the economic development of our airport community. So we count on your collaboration to keep your teams and your customers safe.
Stores
Currently, airport stores are operating while marking the necessary distance between people. The personnel keep the required distance and must use a face cloth or mask to cover their nose and mouth. Also, all personnel are required to wash their hands frequently for no less than 20 seconds.
Food & Drinks
Personnel handling food must wear disposable gloves and a face cloth or mask at all times. The number of passengers to be in the food or and drink area has been reduced. It is recommended that all staff practice routine hand washing or apply hand sanitizer at least every thirty (30) minutes.
VIP Lounges
The number of passengers in the area is limited. Food can only be handled by employees wearing disposable gloves and face cloths or masks at all times. In addition, they should practice routine hand washing.

Specific recommendations for Aerostar personnel
Aerostar is committed to maintaining the health and well-being of employees, therefore the following measures were taken, which apply to the staff of the SJU Airport.
Communication, Orientation & Training
Aerostar continues to offer guidance on hygiene etiquette and social distancing. An internal informational campaign is maintained for employees on COVID-19 disease and related topics. An email communication program will be worked to keep the entire community up to date with the measures taken.
Shift Distributions
We have protocols to manage sick staff. Some of the measures taken to promote social distancing among employees include the implementation of flexible working hours and remote work, to the extent possible. In addition, priority is given to conducting meetings remotely or by video conference.
