Passenger Monitoring
Learn the ins and outs of the SJU Airport's Covid-19 security and monitoring measures
Monitoring & Evaluation Processes
In a joint effort with the Government of Puerto Rico and the National Guard, various measures were established to monitor possible infected persons arriving on domestic or international flights. Aware of the high flow of people who regularly travel through the SJU Airport, measures were implemented to monitor temperature, as well as carry out tests on people suspected of being infected with the Covid-19 virus.
Thermographic cameras
have been installed in the arrival areas of all terminals. The system uses infrared technology. They appear as security cameras, but record the temperature of those who pass through the area where they are installed. When one of the cameras detects a temperature above 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit, an alarm sounds and an alert appears on the monitors with the person's photo and video so they can be identified and undergo a secondary verification.
Arrival Process
Prevention measures for passengers arriving at SJU Airport were strengthened. Several signs guide people to follow safety and monitoring protocols before leaving the premises.
Signs and Warnings
At the end of March 2020, we established protocols to ensure compliance with recommended distance rules to reduce the risk of contagion. Signs indicating hygiene and protection measures were also installed. This is in addition to the installation of hand sanitizer dispensers, as well as counter protection and other initiatives.
