Undoubtedly, the recent COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we all live. Although there is currently space to consider how to reactivate economic and social normality, there are definitely behaviors that will continue to be part of our new daily life.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) define social distancing as "keeping a space between yourself and others outside your home."
To practice it, they recommend:
- Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet (approximately the length of 2 arms) from other people
- Do not meet in groups
- Stay away from crowded places and avoid mass congregations
In compliance with our commitment to protect the security of the Luis Muñoz Marín airport community, it was decided to apply new rules to promote physical distance in the airport facilities.
We will use signs to indicate the prudent six foot distance between passengers, customers and employees in all areas of our facilities. The crowding of people or group meetings will be avoided. Likewise, groups of people should be avoided in closed spaces. Finally, access to the Terminal Building will only be allowed to passengers and employees.
We know that human warmth and interaction is necessary, in addition to being part of our idiosyncrasy. However, in these moments, in order to protect ourselves and the airport community, we must physically keep a distance. Despite this, we will continue to promote a friendly and warm treatment to be provided by our team. After all, it is our mission to connect people.
